State of Survival: Christmas Hunting 2020 – Events overview

A comprehensive overview of the Christmas Hunting 2020 events. Information was taken from the SoS Test Server and might be slightly changed by the game developer upon the official release.

Expected official launch: Dec 20th 2020.

A short video guide to help you winning the event!
Version history:
1.1 - 20/12/2020 - video guide added;
1.0 - 16/12/2020 - guide created.

Lucky Christmas Tree

In this event, there are 2 parts: a tree that you decorate with stars and a special store where you exchange fragments into stars (to gamble for a permanent skin and other rewards) or directly into permanent skin(s).

  1. Christmas tree that can be decorated with Tree-topper Stars.
    Tree-topper Stars are obtained from:
    • Daily missions (total 3 per day if you complete all objectives);
    • Crafted from Tree-topper Stars Fragments. These are dropped randomly every time you put the Tree-topper Star on the Christmas Tree;
    • Purchased via the in-game shop (resets 1/day):
# of StarsPrice
16$5
20$5
30$10
55$20
125$50
150$100
225$100
  1. A special store where you can exchange Tree-topper Star Fragments into Tree-topper Stars or permanent skins.

As a F2P you can gamble for a permanent skin while decorating Christmas Tree with Tree-topper Stars. I don’t know the exact drop rate of a permanent skin but don’t expect a miracle having 3 stars per day (so 15 chances to gamble during the 5-days event duration).

Below are the screenshots of available rewards – Light up and Lucky Light Up.

You always get one reward from the first screen and – every 6th attempt – a small chance to get a reward from the second one. The third screenshot is the abovementioned special store for exchanging collected fragments.

Christmas Festival

The event consists of multiple quests ongoing at the same time. 2 quests will have different objectives each day (Christmas Hunting and Christmas Snowman), you can find each day’s description below. Other quests won’t change and their objectives will remain the same for the whole event duration.

The ultimate rewards of the event are the following. I’ve indicated which are available for free-to-play and which are not.

  • Limited Christmas Blizzard HQ skin – P2P
  • Frosty the Snowman Troop March skin – P2P
  • St. Nick portrait frame – P2P
  • Christmas Gate settlement decoration – F2P
  • Elk Shrub settlement decoration – P2P

tl;dr
You will need to collect as many Sleigh Bells as possible to get the most rewards across all stages. If you would like to get a permanent Limited Christmas Blizzard HQ skin, you need to score Top#10 in the Christmas Wish event.

Christmas Hunting

A 7-days long event with different objectives on each day, very similar to the regular Survival of the Fittest. You will have a chance to complete those objectives within a 24-hours window and score points to get daily rewards.

Besides daily rewards, you will have a chance to obtain additional rewards by competing with other players and scoring most of the points in your state. In this case, every player getting into Top#50 leaderboard will obtain a certain amount of the Universal Legenendary Hero Fragments.

Please note that certain days have 2 different tables – one for states with Plasma buildings opened and one for states without.

Christmas Snowman

Several tasks will be unlocked each day during the event. You don’t need to complete any of those mentioned here within the same day, but within a 7 days event window instead.

  • Complete unlocked tasks during the event to get rewards including Sleigh Bells.
  • Complete a specific number of tasks to get bonus rewards.
  • Unclaimed rewards will be sent to your mail after the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Last column (#) represents a TOTAL amount of the items needed to be spent/gathered/killed to get maximum reward possible.

Christmas Wish

This one is the most straightforward. All the Sleigh Bells you’ve obtained can be used to dress up your Heroes and also score some points. Once you get enough, a reward on the right side will be unlocked. Each next level will require more points, but even being F2P you can achieve the maximum level.

For those getting into the Top#10 ranks, a permanent Limited Christmas Blizzard HQ skin will be granted at the end of the event.

Life-saving tip – you don’t have to tap Sleigh Bells icon, pressing it once and holding till you got the necessary score works like a charm 😉

Sleigh Bells

On this page, you can find a summary of all activities providing Sleigh Bells during the event. The first 2 tasks are unlimited, while the other 4 got a certain limit per the whole event, which doesn’t reset overnight.

Sinister Santa

Once you’ve obtained a Santa Hat, you can rally Sinister Santas for additional Sleigh Bells. It will cost you 10 Stamina. You can accumulate a maximum of 20 attempts with a 60 minutes cooldown for 1 extra attempt to be added.

In terms of Hero choice, Mike is going to be your biggest damage dealer. He will double the damage of almost any other hero due to his ability that does more damage when a teammate gets hit. Make sure you have him ranked up as much as possible for even better damage!

Festival Top-Up Event

If you would like to obtain a Frosty the Snowman Troop March skin, the only way is to top-up 30,000 biocaps through the in-game shop. The minimum price you need to pay is around $60.

Story Event?

I was not able to find any story similar to one we had during the Birthday on the Ferris Wheel event. Might be hidden during the testing phase intentionally to avoid spoilers.
